Savings Time begins next weekend, Saturday,
March 13th. Set your clocks
forward one hour.
Today, Sunday, March 7th, we
celebrate our Senior Adults with Senior
Sunday and the annual “Over 90” Birthday
Party.
Lenten Taizé Services are held in the
Covered Patio on Friday mornings from
8 to 8:30 a.m. through Good Friday, April 2nd
and at Abbey Delray South on Monday
mornings (except tomorrow, March 8th)
from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the Hospitality
Room. Led by Rev. Linda Harper and musician Michael
Testa, this simple and meditative service will help
prepare us for Easter. Join us and bring a friend.
This year’s “One Great Hour of Sharing”
offering will provide tents for residents of Haiti
whose homes were destroyed in the January
earthquake. Frank McKinney of the Caring House
Foundation will present a “Minute for Mission” next
Sunday about the current situation in Haiti. He
will also be available after both services to share
videos of Haiti after the earthquake and to answer
questions.
On Saturday, April 10th, we are
looking for a volunteer work team to spend a
day at the Florence Fuller Child Development Center,
East Campus. Complete details will follow but work
may include painting, landscaping, minor repairs and
clean-up. If you would like to be part of this
team, please contact Jeanne Heavilin, Mission
Outreach Co-Chair at 276-6338.
The Annual Spring First Presbyterian Church Golf
Tournament will be held on Friday, March 19th
at 2:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Golf Club on
Dover Street. Come early to enter a 50-50 putting
contest for $5. During registration, players may
purchase 3 mulligans for $3. The cost for golf,
including gratuity is $20. A dinner of green salad,
pasta, meatballs and chicken will follow at 6 p.m.
at the Lakeview Golf Club. The cost of the dinner
is $10. People who do not play golf are welcome to
attend the dinner. Winners of the tournament will
be recognized then. Reservations will be taken in
the Courtyard today and next Sunday, March 14th or
you can call Linda Prior (276-6338). Reservations
must be made by Monday, March 15th.
Palm Sunday Program rehearsals begin
today, Sunday, March 7th, from
10:30 to 10:50 a.m. in Room #202 of the
Christian Education Building. Children in
Preschool through Grade 5 are invited to
participate. They will wear costumes, wave palms
and sing at both services on Palm Sunday, March 28th.
Children must attend rehearsals in order to
participate.
