At First
Presbyterian Church, children and youth are an important
part of the life of our congregation. We are committed to
providing the highest quality Christian education experience
possible for our young people through creative programs and
service opportunities. We desire that our children and youth
have a fundamental knowledge of the Scriptures so that they
can develop a clear understanding of Christianity and have a
firm grasp of Reformed theology. Most of all, we hope that
our youth will know the love of God, feel the Presence of
the God’s Spirit in their lives, and follow the example of
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
We hope
that our broad range of programs will provide ways in which
our children and youth can mature in their personal,
religious faith. Through activities that include mission,
service, leadership, prayer and study, we seek to nurture
their spiritual growth. We appreciate and love the children
and young people in our congregation. They are a vital part
of our church family.
Sunday School and Children’s
Church
Church
School
Preschool through fifth grade classes are held in the
Christian Education Building and Grades 6 through 8 are in
the Youth House. Classes are offered during the worship hour
and during the education hour. This provides more
scheduling choices for families. During the worship hour
(10 a.m. in September and October and 11 a.m. in November
through April), these children attend the worship service
until the Children’s Time, after which they depart for
Church School. During the education hour (11 a.m. in
September and October and 10 a.m. in November through
April), classes are held for Pre-school through high school
children.
Bible
Bunch
Preschool and Kindergarten children are known as our Bible
Bunch. Following the Children’s Time during each worship
service, the Bible Bunch proceeds to the Christian Education
Building for their own time of worship. Through Bible
stories they learn about God and, with age-appropriate
activities, they celebrate God’s love.
Nursery and Toddler Care
The Nursery is open for infants and toddlers during the
worship service. Silent pagers are given to parents with
children in the nursery.
Parents Morning Out
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 9 to 11 a.m.,
toddlers enjoy a special time with friends while their
mothers have free time. This program runs concurrently with
the school year.
Vacation Bible School
In early June, children of our congregation and others
from the community enjoy Vacation Bible School for a week
from 9 a.m. to Noon. Learning is fun with Bible stories,
games, art, music and refreshments. Photos from
